From preview to commercial release

Thank you to everyone who has tried AIChessGM, reported problems, and helped shape it. AIChessGM now takes its next step with a commercial 1.x license.

The focus stays practical: organize your chess work, build a repertoire you understand, and practice the positions you need to play.

$100 USD, one time. One person, up to two activated Macs, and all AIChessGM 1.x updates. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout. There is no recurring AIChessGM subscription fee.

What you can expect

  • A home for your games. Organize chess databases, work with PGN, and keep your games and annotations together.
  • Repertoire preparation and practice. Build opening trees, compare engine evaluations, import analyzed moves, and train your lines.
  • Position and game analysis. Use compatible UCI engines, explore candidate moves, and study motifs and strategic ideas in the Features pane.
  • Training from your chess work. Practice openings, work through puzzles, and revisit mistakes.
  • Optional AI assistance. Ask for position explanations and game commentary, or transcribe scoresheets with a configured AI provider.
  • A native Mac workspace. Arrange dockable panes for the task at hand and use Game Flow to visualize piece journeys.

The commercial release builds on the preview you have been using. The purchase provides continued access to the 1.x software, all 1.x updates, and a defined support policy. Preview and planned features remain identified as such.

What the license includes

The $100 purchase covers continued use of the licensed AIChessGM 1.x software and all 1.x updates. A single named license holder can activate up to two Macs at once. Future major versions, such as 2.x, are not included in this promise and may be paid upgrades.

How to purchase and activate

  1. Visit aichessgm.com and follow the purchase link, or open AIChessGM → Settings → License in the commercial app and select Purchase.
  2. Complete the secure Lemon Squeezy checkout. Keep your receipt and license key.
  3. In AIChessGM, open AIChessGM → Settings → License and paste the key into the License key field.
  4. Select Activate while connected to the internet. The License pane will show your updated status after successful activation.

You can activate during the trial or after it ends. Repeat the activation steps on your second Mac using the same key. If a preview build has a disabled Purchase button, use the website purchase link.

Try the commercial version for 30 days

A new eligible commercial installation receives a 30-day trial beginning with its first eligible launch. Check AIChessGM → Settings → License → Trial ends for your expiry. Installing an update does not restart the trial.

Already using the preview? You keep the expiry already shown in your current build. For the current preview, that is September 20, 2026. The commercial update does not shorten that trial or replace it with a fresh 30 days.

What happens when the trial ends?

If you have not activated a paid license, AIChessGM enters Restricted mode. Your local chess files are not deleted or locked away: you can still open, view, and export them, and use Help and License Settings.

Editing chess data and scratch positions, engine analysis, AI actions, training, and generated-media features require an active trial or paid license. Purchase and activate a license to restore those features. There is no need to rebuild your databases or repertoires.

If you activate a paid license before the trial ends, paid access takes over immediately. As with any app update, keep a backup of your chess files.

Mac requirements and optional costs

AIChessGM requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M-series) running macOS 14 or later. Intel Macs are not supported by this release.

AI features are optional. Third-party AI usage, paid chess data, remote-engine hosting, and cloud-compute charges are not included in the app price. You can use the core database, repertoire, and training workflows without subscribing to a cloud AI service.

The optional remote Leela setup is not required to install or use AIChessGM.
